Twin Peaks Anniversary Celebrated March 29th

Kate Bush announced a string of live shows today, so really, anything can happen… like the return of Twin Peaks? It seems highly unlikely, though ridiculous rumors swirled all over the alt.internet last year and (SPOILER ALERT) Laura Palmer herself cryptically predicted a return, twenty-five years later, in the series finale. The episode may have aired in 1991, but the events took place on March 29, 1989, on the show. In the episode, Palmer tells Special Agent Dale Cooper, “I’ll see you again in twenty-five years,” and it just so happens that March 29, 2014 is twenty-five years later.

Now, David Lynch has kept himself pretty busy as a surprisingly good electro musician/zen master/coffee roaster in recent years, but he has hinted at a return to directing before, specifically for a Twin Peaks revamp, so I wouldn’t rule it out. In any event, the Paley Center will be hosting a special event to commemorate Laura Palmer’s comment on its anniversary, March 29 at 12:15 p.m.

“With the anniversary of Laura’s comment upon us, the Paley Center—which presented the U.S. premiere of Twin Peaks back in March 1990—has every intention of celebrating the occasion, along with the folks at Welcome to Twin Peaks, and you are cordially invited to attend. Come join us for a special marathon supercut of the series centering on the Laura Palmer murder investigation, plus all sorts of fun and games.”
