UPDATE 1/14/14: Last night, as we posted below, Governors Ball released ticketing information. We’re not sure when the presale is yet, but it seems likely that it will be today. Most presales begin at either 10 a.m. or noon, so keep your eyes peeled. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

As you can see below Governors Ball is pretty cheap compared to campers like Bonnaroo and Coachella. And this year, a payment plan is being offered:

UPDATE 1/13/2014:  One last update before we go to bed.  Looks like Childish Gambino is also playing Governors Ball!  Thanks for the tip Patti!

UPDATE 1/13/2014:  Governors Ball pricing is now online!  The eventbrite for the festival is live and pricing is listed below.  $175 is a HUGE discount for the presale!  We expect that tickets could go on sale as early as tomorrow and will sell out very quickly.  Full options can be found below:

UPDATE 1/13/2014:  The folks at the Governors Ball are working round the clock in the lead up to the lineup announcement!  They just dropped the photo below and we are pretty sure this refers to Tyler the Creator / Odd Future (Golf Wang!).  Can’t WAIT!

UPDATE 1/13/2014: This one just went out via Gov Ball’s Snapchat according to one of our readers – and we’re sorta stumped.  Could be Tenacious D – the quote in the photo is from a scene in Anchorman where Will Ferrel throws a Burrito at Jack Black.

UPDATE 1/13/2014: This one seems pretty easy – Chance The Rapper?

UPDATE 1/12/14: Now Governors Ball is posting videos.  The below scene comes from Coming to America.  The full quote (also below) ends with a punchline of “Where’s the spoon?”.  We are pretty sure this means Spoon is playing the festival!

The full quote is:

“Eddie Murphy – as the old white man in the barber shop – says: “Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait stop right there! Listen: Stop right there, man. A man goes into a restaurant. You listenin’? A man goes into a restaurant, and he sits down, he’s having a bowl of soup and he says to the waiter, waiter come taste the soup. Waiter says: Is something wrong with the soup? He says: Taste the soup. He says: Is there something wrong with the soup? Is the soup too hot? He says: Will you taste the soup? What’s wrong, is the soup too cold? Will you just taste the soup?! Allright, I’ll taste the soup – where’s the spoon?? Aha. Aha! … Whadaya know from funny, you bastards?”

UPDATE 1/12/14: Governors Ball’s just posted there newest lineup clue below!  We are pretty sure this represents the band Bastille.

UPDATE 1/11/14: The great folks at Governors Ball have continued to tease the 2014 lineup via their Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat accounts.  Below are a full roundup of the clues released so far.

We think this refers to Jenny Lewis as she is the actress in the bottom right hand corner.  Could also be Knife Party (they have a song named “Power Glove”) or the Savages as a reference to Fred Savage.

This is definitely Broken Bells

This is definitely Tanlines

This is definitely Disclosure

This is definitely Phoenix

This is definitely Kurt Vial

UPDATE 1/10/14: Gov Ball promoters confirm that they were not talking about Outkast below.  It looks like it was a play on word for Kurt (or “Curt”) Vile from checking the Gov Ball facebook page.

UPDATE 1/10/14: Gov Ball are teasing another band on Instagram:

Pretty sure that’s just OutKast though…

UPDATE 1/9/14: WHOA! Consequence of Sound has confirmed that Outkast will indeed headline Governors Ball! YES! The rest of the lineup, according to the same report, will be unveiled next week.

According to a report by Revolt TV, OutKast’s reunion is “currently set to exist solely in the live setting, with no new album plans in sight, for now.” The group is also rumored to be headlining CounterPoint festival in their native Georgia.

It’s been over a decade since OutKast have performed in New York City.

UPDATE 1/9/14: Governors Ball have tweeted an image of the Phoenix family, meaning either Phoenix are playing or we’ll get a special hip-hop set from Joaquin.

UPDATE 1/9/14: It looks like Biggie and 2Pac are going to play the fest! For real.

UPDATE 1/8/14: Governors Ball have begun teasing bands that will play the fest on their Instagram. Here’s the first hint:

What do you guys think? Disclosure (White Noise) or Frank Ocean (Static)?

UPDATE 1/8/14: Governors Ball has announced the dates for this year’s fest! June 6-8 at Randall’s Island! We’ll have ticketing and lineup info for ya as soon as we hear anything, which should be shortly. For now… read on, we’ve got some hunches as to who may play this year’s fest…

As we previously reported (and the fest re-confirmed on Facebook), Governors Ball will indeed return to Randall’s Island, which looks amazing (see above photo via Gov Ball), in 2014. Tickets will be available in January. Not much else is known at this time, but it’ll be interesting to see if organizers will be able to book as formidable a bill as last year’s this time around.

Last year, Governors Ball expanded from a small, two-day regional fest into a gigantic, sprawling three day, can’t miss event, on a par with Coachella and Bonnaroo. New York City has always had problems holding a big music festival, but it looks like the folks at Founders Entertainment may have struck gold with Governors Ball.

Coachella has already begun announcing its lineup, so the rumors have begun to fly. Yesterday, we wondered if OutKast might play what has become New York’s grandest stage. The folks at Governors Ball took notice, further teasing the possibility by sharing our post on their Facebook page with a question mark.

We reached out to a source connected with the fest, and they could not confirm if our speculative thoughts had any weight behind them. He advised us that their lineup is tightly guarded and he doesn’t know anyone who will play the festival this year yet.

We’ve done some digging and snooping around and have uncovered a few acts we think will play the festival. We’ll be tracking announcements and rumors on this page as time goes on, so be sure to keep checking back for new info.
