We’re big fans of what the folks over at Northside Festival have done in a few short years, rapidly expanding what was once a humble North Brooklyn experiment into one of the best-curated music festivals in New York City. We’re excited to be a part of this year’s festivities, pairing with the fine folks at IMPOSE Magazine to bring you the kind of show this scene was built on, an authentic DIY punk showcase in the friendly confines of Shea Stadium on June 16, headlined by the absolutely vicious Vancouver punk trio Nü Sensae.
And because we want to show our readers how much we love them, we’re giving away 15 pairs of tickets so that you can come out and party with us! Enter below, and read on for a full preview of the festivities.
Nü Sensae expanded from a drum and bass duo to an axe-wielding trio last year, and the result was their loudest and most aggressive release to date, the blistering LP Sundowning. While Nü Sensae’s recordings admirably progress punk and hardcore’s confrontational soundscapes, their reputation has largely been shaped by the intensity and uncompromising volume attained in their performances. Their infamously raucous live show channels the bands cathartic and terrifying audio assault, which has swept cross-continential crowds into their fury the past few years, and now stands poised to implode Shea Stadium the night of the 16th. Check out their new track Throw off their new 7″ split with fellow Suicide Squeezers The Coathangers, and you’ll see what I mean.
We’re proud to welcome back desert psych-punks Destruction Unit to their second My Social List stage this year, after thoroughly dismantling 285 Kent a couple of months ago with Cult of Youth and Alberich. They’ll directly support Nü Sensae, but not before a pair of high-energy, dissonant noise punk sets from the likes of local favorites Big Ups and Western Mass’ Psychic Blood.
