Wednesdays Just Got A Lot Less Wierd

Darkwave party Wierd sadly announced last night that it’ll be ending its six-year Wednesday night run at Chrystie Street’s Home Sweet Home later this month, a crushing blow to LES nightlife. The party is hosting its final four nights in February, drawing to a close with one of Wierd Records flagship acts, Xeno & Oaklander. The full schedule is on the above poster.

Wierd will continue its fine work as one as a pioneering record label for dark, experimental artists; their current roster boasting the likes of Xeno & Oaklander, Plastic Flowers, Led Er Est, Martial Canterel and Vaura.

On behalf of the Wierd World I wanted to let you all know that the last Wierd Party at Home Sweet Home will be on Wednesday, February 27th. We have staged 500+ events over the course of the last decade, and I feel we have achieved what we all set out to do together when the party began.

Needless to say, the idea of ending IT is a very complex proposition. For above all the one thing I have learned from the Wierd is that because ‘IT’ is Very Rare – IT does not exist, and as a result ending IT is impossible. VR.

We have built a thorough archive of the party’s history with all the fliers and weekly Wierd emails which is now live and up to date, check it outhere:

Thank you for your devoted, undying interest and support all these years. I hope you enjoy the last month in the Wierd, we have an incredible set of shows lined up for February. See you all soon once again in our wild latenight world of the fog and the lights.
