Dark, atmospheric and minimal are three adjectives that appear in the descriptions of many Brooklyn bands. They clearly apply to ERAAS, but they’re not just another Brooklyn post-punk or coldwave band.
Yes, their atmospheric, minimalist music has dark overtones (and an even darker aesthetic as you’ll soon learn from their video), but ERAAS seems to draw as much influence from acts as varied as Slint and Codeine as they do from Joy Division and Nick Cave. This is not quite post-punk, but post-rock; utilizing negative space, heavy percussion and understated vocals to create an eerie, distant sound.
