Parquet Courts “Stoned And Starving”

Picture yourself “…walking through Ridgewood, Queens / …flipping through magazines / …so stoned, so stoned and starving.” Sound familiar? Well Parquet Courts feel you, and they’ve got the song to go along with it.

Listen to “Stoned and Starving” below, it’s a straightforward rock tune, with some nice guitar riffs… and it’s talk-sung. In general with bands I’m pretty indifferent about that, but I like it a lot with this band. It fits their aesthetic.

The Brooklyn group’s album Light Up Gold has seen some hype lately, and it’ll be seeing a wide release on January 15th via What’s Your Rapture? (Iceage is on that label too, and they’ve got a new record coming next year).

So grab your Swedish Fish, roasted peanuts, and licorice, hit play on this and start wandering. Hopefully you end up at the Warsaw on the 21st, where the group will be supporting Fucked Up (tickets). If not, they’ve got their own headlining gig at Death By Audio January 11th with PC Worship and Priests (tickets).
