Who Was The Most Buzzed Artist of 2012?

We’ve got the facts, and we’re voting…

DIIV?  Kanye West?  Dirty Projectors?  Nickelback?

ok, maybe not Nickelback…

Until now, we’ve used our handy-dandy buzz-o-meter to rank the shows going on in New York in terms of buzz-worthiness.  We scan feeds from nine of the most relevant indie music blogs and then value them with our unique algorithm.

On Monday… that changes.  End-of-year lists have begun to pour in; but our top-25 “buzz-list” will be the first EVER year-end list based on HARD DATA (EDITORS NOTE, we didn’t actually research if this is true; but you don’t care, do you?)  We’ll follow up on Monday the 17th with a top-25 list for the most buzzed events in the city for the year.

Think of us as indie-blog sabermetricians.

Who did the blogs really talk about the most this year?

We’ll answer that question.  We’ll even be able to tell you what each of the blogs we track talked about the most INDIVIDUALLY.

That’s right.  Who grabbed the most Brooklyn Vegan headlines this year?  Who really reaped the most benefit from their Pitchfork Best New Music badge of honor?  BRACE YOURSELF for the irony of a top-25 list about top-10 lists from Stereogum.

THE BLOGS:

  • Pitchfork
  • Stereogum
  • Brooklyn Vegan
  • Fader
  • Consequence Of Sound
  • PunkNews
  • You Ain’t No Picasso
  • KCRW
  • My Old Kentucky Blog

“Buzz” is generated from RSS feeds from the headlines of these blogs.  It’s not an exact science… but it ends up working pretty damned well.  Our event buzz adds the sum of buzz for each artist on the bill.  Stay tuned…
