The past couple of weeks have been something of a renaissance for Occupy, as the once fledgeling movement’s affiliates have newfound focus in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Occupy Sandy’s list of kudos-ees include the New York Times, The National Guard and even an old sparring partner, the Mayor’s Office. And with good reason; they’re pretty much owning all other relief efforts city-wide, from the Rockaways to Staten Island.
Strike Debt is another Occupy affiliate with a mission statement; attacking the national debt. And tonight is their coming out party, a star-studded telethon and variety show benefit at (le) Poisson Rouge, featuring Jeff Mangum, Lee Ranaldo, Guy Piccotto, Janeane Garofalo, Tunde Abimpe (of TV on The Radio) and many more. The tickets are sold out, but we’re proud to announce that we’ll have a live-stream of the benefit RIGHT HERE at 7 PM, because My Social List stands in solidarity with the 99%.
