Hey, Wednesday. You’ve got it going on. A lot of cool pre-sale tickets going down today. If you don’t have AMEX, don’t you fear most of the stuff that you can’t get today at least you’ll know about and can get that ball rolling as soon as it’s Friday. Right? Right!
Flogging Molly is BADASS, I’ve had a thing for this group for years and I’m happy to report that the septuplet are touring all throughout the US this year and early next year. They’ll be headlining a show at Roseland Ballroom on February 2nd. Their latest studio album, Speed of Darkness, was released in March of last year to a big appearance on the Billboard charts. Some of my favorite tracks include “Don’t Shut ‘Em Down” and the bass heavy “Saints & Sinners”.
Self-described Brooklyn pop punk rock and roll party heroes Nude Beach are heading back home to the great state of New York, in particular to one of my favorite venues The Mercury Lounge. Inspirations include the likes of Petty, Springsteen and Costello but the group brings a lot of earnest vocals and beautiful bursts of strength and resilience to their music. The group just released their second LP, simply titled II, in March to some pretty great reviews. Key tracks include “Walkin Down My Street” and “Radio”. Check these guys out on January 18, pre-sale tickets are available at noon today.
Rock & rollers Red Wanting Blue are up and touring in support of their ninth album, From The Vanishing Point. This album, as well as their previous release These Magnificent Miles, brought in a lot of praise for the guys, ensuing a slew of sold out performances and an appearance on David Letterman earlier this summer. The album is filled with positive, upbeat tracks including hits “Audition” and “Stay On The Bright Side”. Check these guys out at Bowery Ballroom on March 9th, pre-sale tickets can be yours at noon today.
Brooklyn based band,Widowspeak, is a band that knows how to create intriguing sound structures and harmonies. There’s a beautiful hazy quality to singer Molly Hamilton’s vocals. Songs like “Harsh Realm” and “Nightcrawlers” provide a strong foundation for their first full length album, which is self titled. Widowspeak just announced that their newest album, Almanac, will be released on January 22 of next year. They will be headlining a show over at The Mercury Lounge on January 22, pre-sale is at noon today. It should be an excellent show.
Sigur Ros – the Icelandic super group has been getting a lot of flack lately in regard to their last two albums releases, and I’d have to agree they’ve had better days. Regardless, they still have a solid fan base that would be more than willing to catch them live. Pre-sale tickets are on sale at 10am today.
Solange Knowles – Beyonce’s little sister is actually paving a pretty good name for herself without the help of big sis. See her on December 11 at Bowery Ballroom.
